I ran tonight! w4d2 done!

I went to the gym tonight with every intention of NOT running. I was just going to do an hour of cardio and some strength training. One of my reasons for not running tonight was that im moving tomorrow and didn't want to be sore when going up and down the stairs a thousand times. Well, i kept thinking while on the treadmill i know i can beat this week 4! So i gave it a try. This time instead of looking down at the time i looked up and focused more on my breathing and i was able to knock week 4 day 2 out! yay! I think on Monday i will do day 3 then move onto week 5 :)

confessions

I was supposed to of run w4d2 on Wednesday and day 3 on Friday(tomorrow). However i didn't :( Ive been so tired lately and im not sleeping well and ive been packing up to move this Saturday. I know, all excuses. I really wanted to run and do a 5k but now im not so sure. Maybe after i move this weekend and get settled into my new place, new gym i will pick it up again.

Week 4 Day 1- A killer

Tonight is the first time ive had a rough time with this program. I had a lot of things against me tonight. I usually work out first thing in the morning before my body is tired and before i eat but i went to the gym tonight instead of the morning. Tonight i was physically tired from work and i was still full from dinner. The first 3 minute run and the first 5 minute run i did ok. During the second 3 minute run i had terrible stomach pain from being so full from dinner. I stopped a little shy of the 3 minutes and walked it off. I then finished the last 5 minute run. It was tough. I found myself thinking why am i doing this? I don't even like running! I love bikeing, elliptical, walking, weights, but running? yuck! My legs are fine when im running. They dont hurt. But my breathing is labored and my heart rate is very high. I want to keep running just to say i can run but im not sure why i should keep doing it if i dont enjoy. Ah, well see how the rest of the week goes.

Done with week 3!

Whew, week 3 is done! I had another good workout this morning. Did my run, bike, and upper body strength training.

Still today that last 3 minute run was rough. I just felt so out of breath. Im a little anxious about next week starting week 4. I think i may have to slow down my pace a bit to be able to finish the runs. I know people say its all mental but when im about to die because i cant breathe thats pretty physical, lol. So, well see how it goes :)

Week 3 Day 2

Today i felt good about my run. I even stepped up my pace. The last 3 minute run i was a bit out of breath but other than that it felt good. I also did the elliptical and weights as well. Good work out today.

Food...

Im always interested in what other people eat. I thought i would post what i typically eat in a day and if you want you can tell me what you might typically eat :)

Breakfast - Whole grain, high fiber cereal and toast with p-nut butter
Lunch- Big salad with cheese, nuts, lean deli turkey, cranberries
Dinner- Veggie burger on wheat bun and baked fries.

Week 3 Day 1.

So this morning i hit the gym and was excited about starting week 3. All in all it went well. My last 3 minute run i was tired but pushed through to the end. I think i need to increase my speed though because im only getting in about 2 miles total walking and running. Doesnt seem right. Anybody have any input on that?

Back to the grind...

Ive been on vacation for a week in FL. Tomorrows Monday and its time to get back to the grind. Back to getting up at 4:50am to go to the gym, back to work, back to eating healthy & im moving in 2 weeks so i need to start packing. Ugh, none of the above sounds the least bit fun. I am looking forward to starting week 3 day 1 tomorrow though! I will post about it and let everyone know how it goes :)

first run outside...

So normally i run inside on a treadmill and I've been thinking wow, this whole running thing isn't so bad. Today i decided to finish week 2 of the program outside. Ha, i almost died. Running outside is a whole different ballgame. Heat, hills, & not pacing myself. I did finish it but i was near having a heart attack. I think i will get in better shape, keep training on a treadmill, then start training outside.

Why i started a blog...

I have always enjoyed exercising & trying to get healthy and stay healthy, but until 2 weeks ago i was never interested in running. My sister has ran a 5k and asked me if i would do one with her. At first i thought no way i hate running, but then i found the couch 2 5k program. Its a 9 week program that eases you into running and by the end of the 9 weeks has you running 3 miles. Tomorrow i finish up week 2 of the program. Ive been on vacation this week so my eating has been terrible but i have kept up with the running. Next week i plan on posting about my exercise plan as well as my diet. I will also post pictures as i get thinner and thinner :-) I started this blog really for myself but if other people enjoy reading it than fabulous :)
